The article presents methodology to define water regulation and soil protection value of the forest for hydroelectricity and running water supplying in Son La and Hoa Binh provinces and results. According to "Production Function Method", water regulation value of the forests is defined through additional income of the enterprises used maintaining by forests water, soil protection value of the forests is defined through benefit obtained by reducing sedimentation and extending service life of the hydroelectric reservoirs. According to "Conversion Method", water regulation value of the forests is defined through expenditure for construction a man-made reservoir with keeping the same useful water capacity. As a result, water regulation and soil protection value of the forest for hydroelectricity is calculated by 100VND/kwh, for running water supplying - 180VND/m3
