Ecological assessment of surface and technological waterflows of Zangezur technogenic zone

In 2008-2009 waters of Voghji, Geghi and Khalaj rivers, as well as technologic waterflows of Kajaran Copper Molibdenum Plant and Kapan Copper Mine Plant were studied. The results revealed that most of the lands of Zangezur technogenic zone are irrigated with mixed waters of the above-mentioned rivers and Geghanush and Artsvanik tail end discharge waters where the content of Cu, Zn, and Ni among heavy metals is up to 2, and the content of Mo up to 50 times exceeds maximum permissible density. The agricultural products produced in the lands irrigated with these waters are ecologically dangerous.
