The experiments for determination of the effectiveness of plant protection product to the western flower thrips Frankliniella occidentalis Pergande have been conducted in the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute, Plovdiv during the period 2007-2008. The dynamics of the pest population density in pepper variety Stryama has been studied. High number of western flower trips for the period from the second decade of June to the first decade of July has been established. The products Dicarzol 50 SP 0.2%, Confidor Energy OD 0.08% and Actara 25 WG 0.03 % are with the best biological activity average effectivеness over 85% towards the movable forms of F. occidentalis among the insecticides included in the study. They could be applied successfully in control of this pest in greenhouse production.
