Many investigations showed that yields in agriculture could be increased by applying of electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields for stimulating of pre-sowing seed properties. The aim of this study was to establish the impact of electromagnetic treatment and storage term on seed pre-sowing properties – length of primary root system – root and germ of three Bulgarian cotton varieties – Chirpan- 539, Avangard-264 and Trakia. After seed treatment and their storage during for one year, the treatment was in 2008 and for two years the treatment was in 2007 laboratory experiments were carried out in 2009. It was found that the total length of root and germ was bigger than that of control for the three cotton varieties. For Chirpan-539 the best variants showed аn increase in the total length of root and germ by 46.8-55.2% and 30.6-36.8%, respectively after one and two years of seed storage, for Avangard-264 – by 20.5-47.5% and 9.8-23.4%, for Trakia – by 47.9-65.5% and 10.9-21.6%. Positive impact on the total length of root and germ was observed and for seeds without storage for the varieties Chirpan-539 and Avangard-264, which was stronger expressed for the first variety. The results obtained showed that it is better the cottonseeds before their storage to be treated in electromagnetic field.
