The combining ability GCA and SCA of 8 maize inbred lines for protein content in the grain was assessed in a system of diallele croses by Griffings method 4. The trials were carried out at two densities – 4200 and 5200 pl/da without irrigation in Maize Research Institute in 2003-2005 year. Highest GCA for protein content in the grain was found in the high-oil lines CM-547, CM-538, CM- 399 and CM-418, which are recommended in the breeding program for developing of high-protein sintheties. With highest SCA are the lines CM-547 and CM-399 which could be used in the heterosis breeding for developing high-protein hybrids combinations.
