Cattle are the one of the most economic effective groups of domestic animals, presented with more than 1000 breeds all over the world. Rate of intensity of industrial use of cows (RIIU) along with the other selection indexes appear one of the main criteria of the cattle breeding. This index appears economically important because an ability of each cow to produce milk for a long period reflects economic efficiency of a dairy branch as a whole. Average duration of the most productive period of each cow is 6 lactations with following decline of milk yield level. Rate of intensity of industrial use of cows along with milk productivity of black-and-white breed is analyzed. Duration of productive period of culled cows is evaluated in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus. The results of comparative evaluation of cows with a different rate of intensity of industrial use on the indicator of productive longevity and indicators of dairy efficiency show that the cows with RIIU from 0.67 to 0.89 have the longest period of use and the highest indicators of milk productivity, however the cows with RIIU more than 0.89 have a higher yield level for one day of lactation. Thus, the hypothesis that the longer is the lactation period the higher is the level of working life is partially proved, i. e. the cows with the lowest RIIU demonstrate the lowest indicators of working life.
