In course of the research there were studied 200 collection fibre flax (Linum usitatissimum) varieties from 22 countries by the identification features. The research was realized within the limits of the project 'Creation of National Genetic Fund of Flax' in 2009-2010 in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus on a breeding trial plot of the Institute of Flax. Soil of the plot was sod-podzolic light loamy, developing on loess-like loam, underlie from the depth 1 m by moraine loam. The agrochemical indices of the plot by years (2009; 2010): humus content – 1.75; 1.75%; mobile forms of phosphorous (P2O5) – 118.3; 165.4 mg/kg and exchange potassium (K2O) – 124.6; 177.9 mg/kg of soil, pH (in KCl) – 5.81; 5.20 accordingly. Preceding crop - winter wheat. As a result of the research it was revealed that colour of the corolla in the budding stage was expressed more intensively than after opening of the flower. The dependence of the characters of corolla size and boll size was observed. The characters of petal longitudinal rugosity and corolla shape were interrelated: the presence о f rugosity caused semistellate or stellate shape of the corolla. The presence of fringed false interstice of the boll and its dehiscence played an important role in reducing of loss of flaxseeds and, consequently, in yield increasing. Seed brown colour was inherent in most of the studied fibre flax varieties (97.5%).
