Preservation of moist hay with preservatives In order to be able to stock hay without spoilage, it must be dry enough. The use of preservatives / additives at baling of moist hay is an alternative. In two trials, the efficacy of two products, Schaumasil supra NK and KRONI 909.01 Stabisil, was investigated with hay with different dry matter contents. As negative control, variants without additives were tested. During a period of 30 days, hay temperature was continuously controlled. Before and after this period, the dry matter contents and different parameters were analysed. In contrast to the control variants without additives, the two additives Schaumasil supra NK and KRONI 909.01 Stabisil prevented the heating up and the spoilage of the hay with the different dry matter contents. Due to these investigations, the two products Schaumasil supra NK and KRONI 909.01 Stabisil were authorized for the stabilization of moist hay.
