In course of the research there was studied the annual legume crop fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) which is new for Belarus and may become one of the sources of cheap, high-quality plant protein. In different varieties of fenugreek there was examined its nutritional and energetic value, biochemical composition according to the content of organic substances, mineral elements of dry mass and seeds. There were shown elements of yielding capacity structure of both green mass and seeds, and there was made their comparative estimation. All varieties of fenugreek, which were studied in course of four years in the conditions of the north-east zone of Belarus, were characterized by high content of gross and available energy of fodder units, providing fodder units with digestible protein. Fenugreek proved to be a valuable annual legume crop containing higher amounts (in comparison with other leguminous crops) of not only crude protein, but also fat, cellulose, nitrogen-free extractive substances and such mineral elements as phosphor, potassium, calcium, manganese. As a result of realized analysis of crop yield structure it was found that the highest productivity of green mass and seeds was provided by variety Chiadonha – 2080 g/square m and 1074 g/square m, respectively.
