Growth performance of two poultry crosses viz., RIR X CARI-BRO and Kadaknath X Delham Red were studied both in intensive and extensive system of poultry rearing under temperate climate conditions of high altitude (1200-2200 mt msl) of Garhwal Himalayas. The body weights of above crosses at 4 , 8 , 12 , 16 and 20 wk of age, WSM and ASM were found to be 800.20 ± 10.33, 1485.45 ± 15.20, 2111.33 ± 12.00, 2436.00 ± 8.65, 2862.10 ± 20.50, 3000.06 ± 11.20 gm and 170.50 ± 2.55 days in RIR X CARI-BRO and 399.40 ± 2.10, 996.20 ± 5.50, 1380.75 ± 5.20, 1745.22 ± 10.80, 2040.10 ± 7.10, 2220.45 ± 14.60 gm and 185.05 ± 1.90 days in Kadaknath X Delham Red, respectively in intensive system. The corresponding traits performance in extensive system of poultry rearing at farmers field were found to be 559.00 ± 15.71, 1170.20 ± 10.34, 1860.70 ± 18.01, 2505.10 ± 12.22, 2980.25 ± 10.32, 3150.65 ± 11.52 gm and 168.35 ± 5.56, days in RIR X CARI-BRO and 225.20 ± 2.34, 750.20 ± 5.60, 1420.20 ± 3.86, 1805.45 ± 5.10, 2110.65 ± 8.25, 2350.70 ± 11.31 gm and 180.22 ± 2.55 days in Kadaknath X Delham Red crosses, respectively. Body weights at 16 and 20 week and WSM of extensive reared birds were slightly higher than the intensive reared birds in both crosses. The highest mortality per cent (0 to 8 weeks and 9 to 20 weeks) was observed in extensive system in both the crosses.
