This experiment conducted to evaluating effective factors on increasing productivity and technical efficiency of broiler farms in Isfahan province. Research method was survey research by stratified cluster sampling methods. Thus, a sample of 93 broiler farms units by different capacity in two climates (including moderate and dried climate) was selected and questionnaire forms were completed by refer to each production unit (samples) and interview with managers of them. Then, by using the collected information, the average, total and marginal productivity of production factors were calculated. The Cobb-Douglas and Transcendental production functions were used and technical efficiency of each farms were calculated by estimating a frontier production function. Results showed that the greater cost among other production costs was feed cost. Three costs including feed, health and preparing and buying chicken costs were about 94 percent of total cost. The most farms were in undesirable economic condition for using heat instruments. Also, different types of drugs and vaccines has used over economic desirable level, so had low productivity. Feed cost had positive and significant effect on productivity and was under economic desirable level for poultry farmers. The study of feed conversion ratio indicated that 11 percent of samples were in ideal, 26 percent in relatively desirable and about 63 percent in undesirable conditions. The study and comparison of chick mortality in first week and total period of rearing indicated that most mortality has occurred after first week, so, the main reason of mortality was malnutrition and improper management of units and was not from chicken quality. The study of experience and teaching of poultry farmers showed, while the most of them had large experience but they had very low level of technical teaching. So, the work of poultry mans has done based on try and error and with indirect learning. In most units of sample society, the usage of labor input was lower desirable economic level. Comparison of average efficiency and total productivity of production factors between different production units with different capacity (number of chicks) indicated that units with capacity 5000 to 10000 (chicks) comparison to other groups had better efficiency and productivity.
