This study was conducted to determine the chemical composition and gross energy of Sabalan rangland plants in which, 234 samples were taken during three stage of grazing season for three years and chemically analized, according to the standard methods. Results showed that the total means of CP, CF, Ash, EE, Ca, P, Mg and K were 10.38 ±0.25 , 31.2 ±6.8 , 8.6 ±1.8 , 1.23 ±0.39 , 1.44 ±0.33 , 0.26 ±0.06 , 0.67 ±0.5 and 1.44 ±0.25 percent in dry mater respectively. The concentration of Fe , Mn, Cu and Zn were 332 ±113 , 58.7 ±13 , 10.3 ±2.7 and 31.5±8.2 mg/kg respectively that were significantly (p5%) varied between the years. Regarding the stages of sampling, CP, CF, Ash, EE, Ca, P, Mg and K were 15.2±3.5, 25.6±3.7, 9.5±1.13 , 1.33±0.44 , 1.52±0.37 , 0.27±0.06 , 1.52±0.26 , 0.8 ±0.06 , 1.52±0.26 percent and Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn were 361.6±124, 55±10.4, 10.7±2.24 and 3.3±7.6 mg/kg respectively at first stage; 8.37±2.7, 32±4.3 , 8.5±1.39, 1.25±0.37, 1.51±0.28, 0.25±0.05, 0.79±0.56, 1.36±0.24 percent ; 348±127, 63±18, 10.4±3.3, 31±9.9 mg/kg respectively at second stage and 6.6±4.7, 36.4±6.8, 7.88±2.36, 1.1±0.38, 1.3±0.23, 0.25±0.07, 0.4±0.06, 1.45±0.08, percent and 378±677, 59.2±8.3, 9.76±2, 34.7±5.7 mg/kg at third stage of sampling that were significantly (p0.05) varied among the stages exept for Fe and P that were not different. The CP content was not enough to provide the requirement of grazing animals at third stage. Comparing of the results with critical levels for Ca, p, Mg, K, Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn at three stage of sampling showed that amounts of Fe at third stage and P at second stage of sampling were les than the critical points. Therefoere it is recommended that using of supplements could improve the performance of grazing ews in the Sabalan rangelands in summer.
