Evaluation of Potato segregating populations for selection of desirable single plants.

In order to conduct the part of potato breeding program and release new potato varieties, two segregating populations Cara × rooster & open pollinated progenies of population no. 397007 and derived clones were evaluated for three years in Karaj. In first year, around 5000 seelings of each population were transplanted in field and selected 500 single plants. During the two successive coming years, the mentioned clones were screened for agonomic , culinary and commercial traits. Evaluated chracteristics indicated that yield, storability, and agronomic traits have many variations. Finally based. on desirable traits 70 clones were selected for complimentary evaluations.
