Planting of Atriplex lentiformis and Atriplex canescens initiated since 1965 in some arid and semi - arid lands of Iran. Determination of plant density and suitable defoliation methods for the species were the research problems in rehabilitation and improvement of the mentioned lands. This study conducted in Chahafzal e yazad, Nowdehak e Qazvin , Emamzadeh eshagh e ardestan and Dadin e Kazeroon. A split-plot design with 3 replications was applied for analyzing the treatments in each site. Plant density at 3 levels (2*2,4*4 and 6*6 m) were main plots and periods of cutting (every one year, every two years, every three years) and cutting heights (0,20,40,60 cm and no cutting) were subplots. Survival, dry matter, and vigority of stands were recorded in all treatments for 9 years. The forage quality was determined at the end of study . Results showed that the 2m row spaces and 60 cm cutting height in annualy cutting treatment was the best and yielded 2348 kg/ha dry matter in Chahafzal e Yazd, the 2m row spaces and 20 cm cutting height in threialy cutting treatment was the best and yielded 700 kg/ha dry matter in Nodehak e Qazvin , the 2m row spaces and 40 cm cutting height in threialy cutting treatment was the best and yielded 720 kg/ha dry matter in Emamzadeh eshaq e Ardestan and the 2m row spaces and 60 cm cutting height in annualy cutting treatment was the best and yielded 750 kg/ha dry matter in Dadin e Kazeroon. The weakness , drying and reduction of quality and quantity of Atriplex lentiformis and Atriplex camescens continuously increased in all treatments, especially the control. Reproduction of the species were rare in the study areas and it is necessary to re - establish them each 10 years. The chemical analysis of forage showed a low quality and it is necessary to supply supplementary feed for attaining the maximum returns.
