Antheacnose is of the most important diseases of walnut in the world and Iran, which caused by fungus Marssonina juglandis. Many species of Juglans are good hosts for the fungus. Disease is reported from 38 countries, including Iran, it is more prevalent in Europe. Pathogen attacks to leaves, branches and young fruits and all parts of a leaf, such as petiole and leaflet can be infected. Fungus produces ascervulii in the anamorphic stage on the surface of infected organs, which are considered as a good criterion for identification. Disease control measures includes collecting contaminated leaves and fruits, pruning infected branches, use of resistant genotypes and spraying the trees with fungicides from the groups benzimidazoles, dithiocarbamates and copper compounds in early spring and before ascospores dissemination.
