Investigating Total Factor Productivity Growth and Convergence of Rice Production in Gilan Province

Gilan province has 35 percentages of Iran's rice production and 42 percentages of rice acreages. Present study investigate Total Factor Productivity Changes and it's convergence by using non-parametric frontier production function from farming year of 1999 to 2006 in 16 production region of Gilan province. Inputs include acreages, seed, labor, fertilizer and water that were used in rice production during investigated period. Results showed that Amlash region had the most productivity growth. On the other hand, in year of 2001 to 2002 the productivity growth in Gilan province was more than the rest of the years. The convergence tests showed that in both short and long term TFP changes was convergent.
