Effect of dietary supplementation of organic sources in comparision to inorganic sources of Cu, Zn and Mn on performance of laying hens

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of combination of Zn, Mn and Cu from organic (Zn-Mn-Cu Methionin complex) or inorganic sources on performance and eggshell quality characteristics of laying hens. Tow hundred and seventy white leghorn laying hens, 38 weeks of age, were divided into 54 groups, five hens per group and each six groups were assigned to one of the nine experimental diets during the experimental period (38-54 wk). The basal diet was a corn-soybean diet containing 30.16, 19.77, and 4.15 mg/kg Zn, Mn, and Cu, respectively. The nine experimental diets included: 1)The basal diet supplemented with common mineral premix containing 65, 75 and 7mg/kg Zn, Mn and Cu from ZnO, MnO and CuSO4 sources, respectively (control diet). 2)The basal diet supplemented with 65, 75 and 7mg/kg Zn, Mn and Cu from organic (40-40-7 mg/kg Zn-Mn-Cu) and inorganic (25-35 mg/kg ZnO-MnO) sources, 3)The basal diet supplemented with 40, 40 and 7 mg/kg Zn, Mn and Cu from organic sources, 4) The basal diet supplemented with 65, 75 and 10.5 mg/kg Zn, Mn and Cu from organic (60-60-10.5 mg/kg Zn-Mn-Cu) and inorganic (5-15 mg/kg ZnO-MnO) sources. 5) The basal diet supplemented with 60, 60 and 10.5 mg/kg Zn, Mn and Cu from organic sources. 6) The basal diet supplemented with 65, 75 and 7mg/kg Zn, Mn and Cu from organic (20-20-3.5 mg/kg Zn-Mn-Cu) and inorganic (45-55-3.5 mg/kg ZnOMnO- CuSO4) sources. 7) The basal diet supplemented with 20, 20 and 3.5 mg/kg Zn, Mn and Cu from Zn-Mn-Cu-Met complex. 8) The basal diet supplemented with 40, 40 and 7 mg/kg Zn, Mn and Cu from sulphate sources. 9) The basal diet supplemented with 65, 75 and 7 mg/kg Zn, Mn and Cu from sulphate sources. The results showed that dietary supplementation of Zn, Mn and Cu from their organic or mixture of organic and inorganic sources improved performance and some egg quality characteristics, nonsignificantly. In addition, dietary inclusion of organic or mixture of organic and inorganic forms of the elements increased Zn and Mn concentrations in eggshell and markedly decreased egg breaking percentages. Totally, with use of mineral premix that supplies 65, 75 and 7 mg Zn, Mn and Cu per kg diet from their organic (40,40 and 7 mg/kg, respectively) and inorganic sources (25, 35 and 0 mg/kg, respectively) we can achieve suitable performance and egg quality traits in laying hens.
