Due to complex identification of young fig cultivars (Ficus carica) using morphological traits, advance molecular tools have provided a new prospect for DNA fingerprinting. In this study, specific molecular keys were identified for 11 Iranian fig cultivars (Ficus carica) using 13 SSR markers. The results showed that 11 SSR markers produced polymorphic for studied Iranian fig cultivars. SSR markers MFI 15 and MFI 11 in Bar e daane sefid, MFI 4 in Bar e pooz donbaali, MFI 5 and MFI 14 in Kashki, MFI 8, MFI 9, MFI 12 in Mati, MFI 3 and MFI 12 in Peyvas, MFI 8 and MFI 12 in Rono, MFI 7, MFI12 and MFI13 in Sabz, MFI 12 in Shah anjir, MFI 4 anf MFI 12 in Siah, MFI 12 and MFI 13 in Siah dorosht and MFI 12 in Zard e piaazi produced specific molecular keys. Out of 11 Iranian fig cultivars, 8 were identified by SSR marker MFI 12. The specific molecular keys were verified on 57 fig mother's trees and the results were confirmed at two independent laboratories. The reported specific molecular keys can be used for identification of 11 Iranian fig cultivars.
