Progeny test of selected sunflower lines derived from Master and Lakumka O.P varieties considering morphological traits, yield and resistance to downy mildew.

In order to producing breeder seeds of some OP sunflower varieties, Master and Lakumka, 1000 single head selected during 2009 at elite fields from Master and Lakumka varieties. In spring 2010 the lines having superiority in the yield and oil percent comparing to the respected super elite controls were cultivated and their performance regarding the uniformity, presence of off-type plants and the line yield and oil content at the end of growing season were evaluated. As a result, 98 and 103 line from Master and Lakumka, respectively, were selected which their response to the downy mildew disease was evaluated. At the end, 83 and 96 lines for Master and Lakumka, respectively, were selected and their stored seed were mixed. The mixed seeds will be used as breeder seed for propagation in the next year.
