Evaluation of promising barley lines under on-farm conditions in Golestan province.

In order to evaluate six under release barley promising lines i.e. (EBYT 85-17, EBYT 865-3, 4, 6, 14,17) as well as Sahra, Yousef and EBYTW 79-10 as checks, an experiment was performed in an RCBD with three replications in four locations (Gonbad, Kalaleh, Gorgan and Agh Ghala) in 2010. Plot size was 24 square meters. There were twelve 10-meter long rows in each plot and the seed density was 270 seeds per square meter and the rows were 20 centimeters apart. This experiment was performed to compare yield and other traits studied with checks under onfarm condition. Results of combined analysis of variance revealed a significant difference among genotypes for grain yield at 1% probability level. EBYTW-86-4 (ARABIANBARLEY/_) and EBYTW-86-3(Productive//As46/Aths) had the highest grain yield (4.252 ton/ha), and therefore EBYTW-86-4 and EBYTW-86-3 might be introduced along with other cultivars for sustainable cropping system.
