Resistance of different lentil varieties to the attack of Bruchus lentis [Lens culinaris].

Six varieties of Lens culinaris Medik. - three early flowering and three late flowering were tested for resistance to Bruchus lentis Froelich at the Department of Zoology, Punjab University, India. The number of eggs laid, percentage infestation in harvested seeds, and weight loss due to insect feeding were recorded. The late flowering varieties were more resistant than the early flowering with the varietal order of resistance being LL56 > PL406 > L9-12 > local small seed > PL639 > large-sized market seed.
