A serum-free medium (medium A6), supports the primary isolation and cultivation in vitro of corn stunt spiroplasma (CSS). The growth characteristics of CSS in A6 medium are similar to those in the conventional serum dependent, ketoglutarate sorbitol medium (SMK).
