The content of dry matter and starch in bearing tree up to the age of 4 years old wood of pear Williams, and during the different seasons in the agroecologic conditions of Cacak (Yugoslavia) was investigated. The following conclusions were made : the percentage (%) of dry matter was 46.69 % and it ranged from 44.39 % for one year old tree to 48.42 % for 4 years old tree. It has the tendency to increase with wood aging. The most intensive variation of dry matter within a year was found in the one year old tree (31.60 - 48.68 %) and the smallest in 4 years old tree (41.18 - 51.38%). The average content of starch in bearing tree was 5.80 %, the smallest content was in 2 years old tree (5.69 %), and the greatest in 4 years old tree (5.89 %). The starch content within a year varied and had 2 maximums and 2 minimums.
