Characteristics of eleven Arab and foreign sweet almonds varieties planted in a dry area, Izraa Research Station, South Syria, were identified. These varieties showed wide variability regarding their first production, flowering date, the morphology of the trees, growth and production potential and fruit characteristics. The Arab and foreign sweet almonds are: Ferraduel, Ferragnes, Ai, Texas, Oja, Dafadi. It was concluded that the late flowering high yield varieties of sweet almond of high commercial value could be planted in another Arab areas similar to the climatic conditions of Izraa, Syria.
