Respuesta del maiz CP-561 a presion poblacional, nitrogeno y balance hidrico bajo temporal, en la region central costera de Veracruz.

El objetivo fundamental de la presente investigacion fue estudiar el efecto que producen diferentes niveles de presion poblacional y diferentes niveles de fertilizacion nitrogenada, sobre algunos parametros fisiologicos del cultivo de maiz y obtener una relacion funcional entre el rendimiento de grano y estas variables de manejo en el proceso productivo de este cultivo. Los resultados experimentales permitieron constatar que el rendimiento de grano en kg ha-1 se ve seriamente afectado por altos niveles de presion poblacional y que la fertilizacion nitrogenada produjo efectos positivos hasta el nivel de 160 kg ha-1. Por otra parte, se obtuvo una funcion multivariada y mediante procedimientos matematicos fue posible definir que el ingreso neto del productor regional dedicado a este cultivo se maximiza cuando el cultivo se siembra bajo una presion poblacional de 59 000 plantas ha-1 y se suministran 160 kg de nitrogeno por hectarea. El nitrogeno aplicado promovio la tasa evapotranspirativa del cultivo hasta el nivel de 120 kg ha-1.

English. The main objective of this experiment was to study the effects of different population densities and different levels of nitrogen fertilization on several physiological parameters in corn, as well as to obtain the functional relationships between grain yield and these variables during the corn growing stages. The experimental results support the conclusion that grain yield per hectare is seriously reduced under conditions of high population densities whereas the use of nitrogen as a fertilizer had a positive effect up to 160 kilograms per hectare. The results also permitted the generation of a multivariate function which, through mathematical procedures, was able to determine the conditions which would produce an optimal net income for the local farmer dedicated to the cultivation of corn. Yield was highest when the corn was sown at a population pressure of 59 thousand plants per hectare and when nitrogen was applied at the rate of 160 kilograms per hectare. The applied nitrogen increased the corn evapotranspiration rate up to the level of 120 kilograms per hectare.
