The present studies were carried out to reduce the phytotoxicity of herbicides on polyethylene film covered nursery of rice crop. The briquet ashes dressed about 2kg/m2 on the nursery bed were resulted remarkable reducing of herbicidal phytotoxicity in both textures, clay loam as well as sandy loam soils. The effect were not changed whether the ashes dressed before sowing of rice seeds on the herbicide applied nursery bed or used instead of sand covering of seeds after sowing. The mechanism of briquet ashes seemed to be originated from the active carbon remained in the briquet ashes after buring.
