Evaluation of the mechanical properties of winter rape siliques in respect to their susceptibility to cracking.

The results of investigations showed great variability of the measured mechanical parameters determined by the variety properties, siliques moisture and climatic factor in particular years. The Gorczanski rape was the best variety as regards cracking susceptibility. It was observed that increase in the silique moisture caused a rapid decrease of the cracking resistance in the Skrzeszowicki and Rapol varieties. The strength parameters values decreased by about 50% at the highest moisture content.
