Milk production by dairy cows fed hammermilled lupin grain, hammermilled oaten grain or whole oaten grain as supplements to pasture.
1989
Valentine S.C. | Bartsch B.D.
Each feed preparation was fed to Friesians in early lactation at 3.5 or 7.0 kg DM daily. The only significant differences were a higher protein content of milk following oats feeding than lupins, and a lower ratio of protein to fat in milk at the lower levels of feeding. There was no benefit to production of any treatment above the lower level of whole oaten grain.
