Evaluation of acaricides for control of red crevice mite, Brevipalus phoenicis Geijskes (Acari-tenuipalpidae), infesting tea [in Kenya].
1989
Sudoi V.
The red crevice mite, Brevipalpus phoenicis Geijskes, is a pest of tea in Kenya. The mites sack sap from the stems and leaves of tea bushes leaving them defoliated and with very little production of green leaf. Various chemicals have been tested for control of the mites elsewhere in the world. The work reported here was undertaken to test field efficacy of various acaricides on the control of B. phoenicis on tea and to determine yield losses due to the mite. The acaricides are only those found in Kenya markets which do not taint tea. Results are discussed.
