Study of lizards and skinks (Suborder Lacertilia) found in Amphoe Muang, phetchabun Province was conducted from April, 1985 to April,1986. Two methods were used for gathering specimens; the first was to survey on the setting direction every month, and the second was to search thoughroughly in the marked areas. Sixhundred and ninety three specimens were collected, and classified into 4 families, 11 genera and 15 species. The highest number of lizards and skinks (15 species) occurred in May, 1985, July, 1985 and September,1985. The lowest (11 Species) occurred in April, 1985, March, 1986 and April, 1986. The majority (5 species) of lizards and skinks was found in the Dry Tropical Evergreen forest and Dry Mixed Decideous Forest; 3 species were found in the Dry Tropical Evergreen Forest; and 1 species was found in the Dry dipterocarp Forest. Other six species, were generally found in every forest type. Besides living in the forest types six kinds of lizard and skinks could live in the household areas. It appeared that rainfall and relative humidity had an effect on the species composition and the numbers of individual of the lizards and skinks.
