Valencia orange (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb. trees on sour orange (Citrus aurantium L.) grown on soils of higher CaCO3 content (30.2%) had lower root density especially in layers below 60 cm depth, than that observed for trees grown on soils of lower CaCO3 content 10.3%). Tree growth (height and canopy volume) was highly correlated with average root density profiles. Trees grown on soil of the lower CaCO which had higher root density, produced the higher tree size and higher yield than those grown on soil of higher CaCO3 content.
