In the year 1987 on eight Slovene pig farms were analyzed 46,356 farowings, 63,175 matings and 12,163 cullings. Piglet production with gilts (age at farrowing 352,2 days, number of liveborn piglets 8,51, corrected interval between selection and farrowing 178,7 days and number of feeding days per liveborn piglet 20,98 days) was hy 3,5% more expensive than in 1986. With old sows piglet production (interval between farrowings 150,0 days, corrected interval between farrowings 177,9 days number of liveborn piglets 9,73 and number of feeding days per liveborn piglet 18,28 days) was in the level of previous year. In 1987 sows gave on the average 4,70 litters and 44,42 liveborn piglets in 810 days; this is how long their production period lasted. The rate of the herd's annual renewal is 50,67 %.
