According to the experiences presented in this paper the virus exciting haemorrhagic gastroenteritis of dogs causes the disease primarily in young puppies up to 3 months old, manifested by inappetence, depression, hypothermia, vomitting, profuse haemorrhagic diarrhoea, tachycardia and sometimes polydipsia. In older dogs the exciter rarely causes the disease with fatal consequences. During the pathoanatomic analyses of the dead puppies inchaemic changes of the myocard were found in over 90% cases and spotted to macular bleedings were found in the epicardium, mostly between the atrium and the ventricle. Pathohistological analysis revealed a whole gamut of pathohistological lesions, changes of striated fibres (brown atrophy, granular, hydropic and fatty degeneration and myocytolysis) and changes in the interstice. Changes in the myocardium caused by this virus are the reason of death of a great number of puppies.
