Vibration stress of the hand-arm-system is provoked when operating vibrating hand tools. Such tools may be distinguished by physical vibration parameters and gripping and pushing forces needed. Biomechanical behaviour, muscle activity, temperature of the skin and subjective sensation are parameters of acute human strain. Chronic effects may be degeneration of bones and joints as well as disturbances of peripheral circulation and nervous function. Technical improvements have first priority under all protective measures.
