The paper presents the theoretical considerations dealing with estimation of genetic variances and covariances for doubled haploid (DH) lines derived from F1 and F2 hybrids. The mathematical model of quantitative trait for DH lines includes the additive and epistatic effects of gene action as well as recombination coefficients. It was shown that relations between variances and covariances of F1 DH and F2 DH lines expressed by correlation coefficient may be used for detection of linkage of genes conditioning 2 different quantitative traits. The theory is illustrated by example concerning plant height and protein content in barley DH lines.
