[Influence of Prapiras on gastrointestinal nematodes in cats]. [English]

The experiments were carried out to test the tablets of the wide spectrum anthelminthic Prapiras which contain 20 mg of praziquantel and 80 mg of pyrantel. According to the qualitative and quantitative composition of active substances this drug is identical with Drontal cat and Cestal cat. The experiments were carried out with 65 cats. In the first series of experiments Prapiras was tested for efficasy (51 cat) and in the second series - for toxicity (14 cats). The doses of the preparation for both series are explained. The efficasy of Prapiras at a low and a medium infection level of Toxascaris leonina and Toxocara cati was determined (in the range of 83.4%-100%). The toxicity test revealed that a three-fold therapic dose incluced no ailment. Increasing the doses by 5.7 and 10 times short-lasting side effects appeared. The side effects disappeared without the treatment with medicaments.
