Soybean yield and quality as influenced by crop density, sowing type and nitrogen fertilization.

Over the 5-year period (1986-1990) a study was conducted on the influence of crop density (400,000; 500,000 and 600,000 plants per hectare), sowing type (30, 45 and 60 cm row spacing), and N fertilization (45 and 90 kg/ha) on soybean yield and quality. The results achieved are as follows: the highest seed yield was obtained at the smallest row spacing variant especially in the years with lower rainfall. Smaller row spacing resulted in higher seed yield. Fertilization with larger amount of nitrogen was not justified. Crop density and sowing type had no effect on protein and fat content in kernel. In combinations with 90 kg/ha nitrogen there was more protein and less fat in relation to fertilization with 45 kg/ha nitrogen.
