Content and distribution of 137 Cs in the elements of forest biocenoses (needles, bark, wood, litter, cones, brushwood, moss) were estimated in the course of the experimental works carried out at the two sites in the region of the Chernobyl NPP. It was shown that 137 Cs is mainly located in the forest litter (about 95 % of the total amount in all the biocenosis). The data obtained enable to assess the retention and secondary transfer of the radionuclides during forest fires taking into consideration the climate conditions.
