Multiple regression analysis of relation between the moisture content of the cocoon layer and the atmospheric temperature and humidity.

Kobayashi K.
In order to obtain cocoons of good quality it is important to vaporize the moisture which is contained in the cocoon layer. Since it was considered that vaporization depends largely on the adsorptive capacity of the cocoon layer, the relation between the moisture content of the cocoon layer and temperature and humidity of atmosphere to which it was exposed was investigated. 1) The adsorption isotherms were determined for the cocoon layer. The moisture content of the cocoon layer under high humidity conditions was higher than that for the raw silk. 2) It was inferred by multiple regress in analysis that the moisture content of the cocoon layer changed with the atmospheric absolute humidity and saturation deficit.
