The Environment Impact Assessment of roads in forests of hilly regions and highlands reveals the effects of road construction and road-use to the environment. Based on this, ecological minimum requirements can be set up that have to be taken into consideration in the process of road planning, construction and use. In the case of particular planning and conscientious road construction and use, forest roads do not cause lasting and detectable changes in the natural balance of forests.
