Aquaculture marketing - a survey of existing producers.

Aquaculture was introduced to Trinidad and Tobago in 1952. Since then, the Government has encouraged research and extension through its Bamboo Grove Fish Farm. A survey of 193 registered fish farmers (54%) conducted by means of personal interviews and questionnaires during most of August 1987 revealed that the majority of farmers practice subsistence farming without any serious attempt at commercialization. The management of such farms are "haphazard" and demonstrative of the lack of technical knowledge about species being cultivated and lack of financial incentive.
