The passage to a farmer type of land care organization has imposed the development of a smaller and advanced tobacco drying chamber. The farmer type SFT-2 Virginia tobacco drying chamber has been engineered at the Institute for Tobacco Crop and Tobacco Products, by making use of foreign companies' analyses and custom-built assemblies. The bench tests, carried out individually with a part of the assemblies, as well with the whole project under tobacco loading, have shown results that are completely satisfactory compared to the larger chambers and comply with some requirements, set up in advance. The heat balance of the drying process in the chamber that has been determined, is a guide to its more efficient use.
