First part of this paper describes problems of supply of animal feeds with particular emphasis on the ruminant animals and problems of soil fertility which needs to be ameliorated. In the second part an approach for integrating pasture and soil fertility improvement is proposed using the ley farming technique. Hamata (Stylosanthes hamata) is well adapted and widely utilized by stock owners in the area. In implementation a subsidy scheme should be introduced to provide enough incentive for farmer cooperators who wish to participate in carrying out the ley farming program.
