Abiotic stress conditions brought about significant variation in fertilization of plants and yield of maize. Low temperatures with high soil moisture in May and June are responsible for the occurrence of barren plants, particularly on plots with application of phosphorus (100 kg/ha) and without fertilizers. Greater damages in such conditions were observed on some inbred lines in seed production. Fertilization of plants and yield of grain were much more effected by water stress during flowering time of maize. Deficient soil moisture before flowering and during fertilization increased very much the number of barren plants, with lowest yield. Higher amounts of fertilizers particularly nitrogen, intensify drought stress. Less damages is caused by water stress after fertilization of maize.
