Irrespective of soil compactness the highest average deficit of rainfall (over 100 mm) was stated in cabbage, in beetroots, in small-seed papilionaceous and root crops. Other kinds of crops showed lower deficit of water, namely 50-100 mm. As to cereals - only those grown on light soils need irrigation. During a drought year the deficit of rainfalls was higher than during an average year about 20 to 95 mm depending on the crop.
