The influence of soil water content on the resistance to penetration of sandy soil was investigated. The resistance to penetration was measured with the spring penetrometer. Negative correlation between the resistance to penetration and soil water content was the most distinct in the range of low water content. The greatest changes of the resistance to penetration with change in water content were found in the most compacted soil samples. The degree of correlation was dependent on the soil profile depth.
