Mechanical threshing resulted in a decrease of the germination capability of rye grain as much as 20-30 percent as compared to the hand-threshed control. Applying mechanical loads especially when combined with high fertilization level (500 kg NPK/ha) and high moisture content brings about a further decline in the performance of rye seeds.
