Gestation length, unassisted and assisted birth ratios, calving difficulty of Hereford and Angus cows, and the 205 day weaning weight of their F1 progeny from reciprocal crossing, have been evaluated under the same circumstances. Moreover, data for 400 and 550 day weights, age at puberty, oestrus detected and pregnant rate of heifers were analysed. According to the results Hereford cows showed the same gestation length as the Angus cows in the case of progeny from reciprocal crossing. Similarly, no significant differences were found in the birth weight. Hereford cows showed a lower ratio of unassisted birth and a higher ratio of assisted birth, calving difficulty, and stillbirth than the Angus cows, but the difference has not proved significant. Mortality of calves from Angus dams was a little bit lower than that from Hereford dams, but the difference has not proved significant. Based on the crossbred progeny results offspring from Angus dams had by 51.70-74.21 g/day, statistically proved (P<0.05), higher daily gain and by 10.76-15.07 kg, statistically proved (P<0.05), higher 205 day weaning weights respectively than those of the offspring from Hereford dams. Female progeny from Angus dams had higher 400 and 550 day weights than those of Hereford dams, but the difference was not significant. Similarly, no differences were found in the puberty age and rate of oestrus detected, in the pregnant heifers from reciprocal crossing.
