The investigation reveals that the agricultural environment in Shuiquan Village has been polluted by the tailing water used for irrigation from a copper smeltery. This pollution is caused by the heavy metal elements such as Cd, Cu, As and so on in the tailing water. Meanwhile, the draught cattle in this region are harmed. Due to the accumulation of the heavy metal elements the pollution will be more serious and the health of people and domestic animals in this region will be further harmed unless effective measures are immediately taken.
