Adaptability trial of 13 white potato processing varieties in the Cordillera [Philippines].

Thirteen potato processing varieties from the Netherlands were tested. The varieties tested were Usmonda, Colombos, Diamant, Disco, Donald, Hertha, Remarka, Serenade, Signal, Solide, Van Gogh and Baraka as check variety. This study was conducted in two seasons. During wet season (Feb-Jun, 1995) at Atok, Benguet and Barlig, Mt. Province [Philippines]. In the wet season at Atok, Disco, Diamant and Baraka gave the highest yield of 77.66, 76.30, and 75.11 tons/ha, respectively while in Tandiangan, Tuba, Diamant, Hertha, Remarka, Baraka, Colombos, and Van Gogh gave the highest yield compared to other varieties. During the wet season (second trial), it was observed that Baraka, Hertha, Colombos and Serenade gave the highest yield at Atok, Benguet compared to the production at Barlig, Mt. Province than Baraka, Donald, Van Gogh, and Solide gave the highest yield. In conclusion, all the varieties tested were adaptable to Cordillera environment. However, adaptability of those varieties varied from location to location. The dry matter content of all varieties ranged from 20.2-22.4 which are suitable for fries and chips.
